Thank you to the parents who came in and helped with our Halloween party. Also, a big thank you goes out to Mrs. Crabeesub who came in to cover for me in the afternoon.

My mom and dad have an enormous garden up near Roseau, Minnesota. This year they had a bumper crop of pumpkins, so I brought some back for my class. We talked about cartoon drawing and each student painted a character face on their pumpkin. Happy Halloween!
I have been working with John Latimer for the last 15 years. John is a retired rural mail carrier with a radio show on KAXE 91.7 fm. Each Tuesday morning he shares phenology - observations of nature as it goes through the seasons. We will be sending in a report to John most weeks highlighting our nature observations. Encourage your child to keep looking for animal and plants in his/her own backyard. We keep a record of everyone's observations as well as temperature and other weather data. Listen to KAXE on Tuesday mornings at 6:50 a.m. to hear our reports.
It is homecoming week and so today we had an elementary pepfest. The high school kids led the elementary in some cheers and we played a few silly games. It's never too early to start building school spirit in our students!
Jodi Nordlund is an Extension Educator from Itasca County. She will be coming into our classroom once each month to teach the kids about healthy eating. Today she brought apples from a local orchard. The students did a taste test to discover the differences in flavor, texture and color.
