This week we went out and found some interesting leaves in the woods and pressed them under some heavy books. We then coated them in white paint to make leaf prints. After filling in the background with beautiful fall colors, we hung our masterpieces out in the hallway for everyone to enjoy!
Today the bus drivers taught the class about bus safety. We practiced bus evacuation and learned how to cross the road safely in front of a bus. Thanks bus drivers for all you do!
One of our second grade science standards involves thinking like an engineer. Throughout the year I will be presenting engineering challenges to my kiddos to help them problem solve. Today they had to get Fred the worm back in his boat wearing his life preserver using only paper clips. It was fun to see how the kids solved this problem.
Jodi Nordlund from the University of Minnesota Extension Service in Grand Rapids will be visiting our classroom once a month to teach us about healthy eating. Today she came in and we had an apple taste test.
